BBC Weatherman Tomasz Schafernaker warned despite the mercury potentially rising into sizzling mid-twenties this week, volatile and stormy weather could be on its way very soon.

Although the freak October warm spell could put a smile on many Britons’ faces across the UK, the balmy African air responsible for the high temperatures could smash into a cold weather front, resulting in the third storm of the year, Callum.

Mr Scahfernaker said: “I’m sure there will be a lot of happy faces out there when I tell you we’re going to get up into the mid-twenties in the South.

“Around three or four years ago around Halloween, we had temperatures up to around 24C.

“If you look at the weather map, you can see the air is coming from the South and drifting out of Africa.
