America’s oldest man gets private tour of African American museum

The nation’s oldest man and World War II veteran was treated to a private tour of the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC on Sunday. 

Richard Overton, age 111, was flown to the nation’s capital on a private jet to visit the museum by billionaire Robert Smith, who donated $20million to help create the institution. 

The two met for the first time on Friday, at Overton’s home in Austin, after being introduced by a mutual friend. 

When Overton expressed his interest in visiting the museum one day, Smith asked Overton what his plans for the weekend were.
