African football leadership to persuade SA to back Morocco to host 2026 World Cup

African football top brass will head head to South Africa to convince the country to keep backing Morocco to host the 2026 World Cup.

South Africa, who became the first African country to host the World Cup in 2010, are threatening to break ranks and vote for the rival North American bid in what would be a blow to the African cause.

Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Ahmad will be hoping to pursuade South African Football Association (SAFA) representatives to back Morocco’s bid when they meet in Johannesburg.
