African couture for kids by Qhawear

Qhawear, named after Qhawelesizwe, was founded by Dineo Nomayeza Khambule, 25, who grew up in Springs, east of Joburg. The exciting brand, which specialises in African couture for children, started when Khambule, who loves exploring different colours, prints and patterns, wanted to have matching outfits for her son.

“After having my son, I wanted to explore the same taste in fashion with him but found it difficult to dress him as there was no place that offered beautiful African printed clothing that was easily accessible.

“We were invited to a traditional wedding and I had nothing for my son to wear. Being a mother that likes to dress up, I started thinking of designing and making clothes for my son until I realised there was a niche.
