African American Pottery – arts & crafts – by owner

African American Pottery by Charles Smith, a well known and well liked Mobile potter who began his career in the early ’70’s. Since 1978, Smith has won some 30 first place awards or best of show awards. His work was included in the traveling exhibit “Uncommon Beauty in Common Objects”: The Legacy of African American Craft Art. He has exhibited his pottery all over the country, including the National Museum of American Art in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. and the American Craft Museum in NYC.
