African-American History Festival focuses on time before Civil Rights Era

ELYRIA — The 39th annual African-American History Festival on Sunday afternoon opened its doors to the community to learn.The festival at Kanisa House II gave people an opportunity to learn of the accomplishments of African-Americans and the struggles they face.This also was an opportunity to learn and improve on the lessons of the greatest African-American minds from the past.

The majority of the event was a celebration of more than 30 different books discussing black culture in America leading up to the Civil Rights Acts of 1964.
