A Tree Without Roots Cannot Grow: Assisting African American Patrons with Beginning Genealogy Research


Nancy Richey, Associate Professor/Visual Resources Librarian for the Department of Library Special Collections at Western Kentucky University. Ms. Richey has served on various historical boards, including Janice Holt Giles Society, Morrison Park Camp Meeting Site Restoration Board and the Daughters of the American Revolution, and has authored two local history books in the Images of America book series and is co-author of Mose Ranger: Kentucky’s Shy Guitar Master. She teaches classes for patrons on beginning African American research and finding your Civil War ancestors among other presentation.
